Air-weigh

Air-Weigh is the world's leading manufacturer of on-board weighing products for the commercial transport industry. Air-Weigh on-board scales help maximise efficiency by reducing time spent loading and check-weighing. Install Air-Weigh scales on your equipment today and start realising the benefits of accurate weights right at the loading dock.

Transport costs continue to rise - higher fuel costs, limited drive hours, and employee turnover reduce profitability. In order to offset these costs, Companies and owner-operators are looking for ways to save money. With Air-Weigh on-board scales, drivers can get loaded faster and more efficiently without needing to check-weigh at a weighbridge. As a result, profits per trip are increased without risking safety or excessive wear on equipment.

What makes Air-Weigh different to conventional air pressure scales?
- Conventional air pressure scales only weigh axle groups that are equipped with airbag suspension while Air-Weigh on the other hand measure steer, drive and trailer(s) axle groups irrespective of wether the axle group's suspension system is Airbag or Spring.

- Air pressure gauges like any other analogue gauge can lose accuracy overtime upon hard impact. Air-Weigh on the other hand uses electronics to maintain accuracy for years to come.

- Air tempreature changes air density which in turn affects the air pressure scale readings dramatically. Air-Weigh measures the temperature and compensates to deliver accurate readings all the time.

- Most air gauge operators report that they still travel to the weighbridge because they are not confident enough of what the air gauge shows. Air-Weigh operators report that they dont need to check-weigh because of the system's accuracy, plus the complete GVM and axle group weights are on the dash display. They have eliminated weighbridge costs, fines, penalty strikes, trips back to the loading dock, wasted fuel usage and missed delivery deadlines.

- Transport companies use tracking systems to monitor vehicle location and use. Air-Weigh can be integrated with numerous tracking systems and allows the office to additionally monitor the vehicle's weights. Air pressure scales dont provide that feature.

Sure there are other electronic on-boad scale systems on the market but no matter what you compare - Air-Weigh will always be ahead of the pack. Other systems either display a static steer axle which never changes or the steer axle is not taken into account because of the cost factor.
Air-Weigh uses patented technology which intelligently measures the steer axle accurately as well as the remaining axle groups.

Another benefit Air-weigh provides is that all Axle group weights are shown on the in-cab display which means that the driver does not need to get out of the truck while loading.
Many loading sites prohibit drivers from getting out of the truck due to the dangerous or hazardous nature of the product being loaded. Therefore, Air-weigh keeps the Truck's weight within legal boundaries while abiding site rules and most importantly, the driver's health is not jeoparised.

How does Air-Weigh work?
The Air-weigh 5800 truck scale is the main control unit which alone displays the steer & drive axle weights and the weights of any Air-weigh equipped trailers.
The Air-Weigh 5800 trailer scale is mounted on each trailer and displays the trailer weight to the main truck scale. The 5800 trailer scale communicates via existing trailer wiring so there is no difference to hooking and unhooking your trailers
If you have a fleet of trucks and trailers equipped with Air-Weigh, you can change your vehicle configurations to your work requirements without upsetting the Air-Weigh system and still have accurate weight readings. This is especially handy from when you have to go from B-double to single trailer or vice versa

How accurate is Air-weigh?
Air-Weigh America has documented to expect a 140kg (300lb) tolerance but our customers' feedbacks had told us much better.
There are a few factors which can affect Air-Weigh's accuracy. To ensure accuracy all the time, you must:-
- Make sure the suspension system and the height controller valves are in good working order.
- Weigh on level ground (a couple of degrees difference can be tolerated) and ensure there are no potholes as that can affect the accuracy.
- Dump and re-inflate the suspension (2 seconds of air dump is enough) to ensure the height control valves are at the correct point.

Bare in mind that all Weighbridges readings differ from each other. For example one Weighbridge shows a GVM of 22580kgs while another weighbridge shows a GVM of 22720kgs.

Air-weigh products

Air-Weigh LoadMaxx Truck scale
Used on Rigid trucks and prime movers, the in-cab display shows the Steer axle, drive axle and trailer(s) weights as well as gross vehicle mass and net payload. The LoadMaxx Truck scale can be connected to an optional warning buzzer or light for overweight warning and can also be connected to most tracking systems to report vehicle weights back to base. An optional on-board printer is available.
The LoadMaxx can also interface to the vehicle's J1708, J1939 and CANbus for total integration to the truck's multi-function display and trip computer

Air-Weigh 5802 Trailer scale
Mounted on the trailer, the 5800 Trailer scale sends weight data to the LoadMaxx Truck scale. The 5802 Trailer scale has its own display so you dont have to run back to the cab when loading. The backlit display is large enough to see the reading from far and has a positive display which allows you to read the weight even with the sun directly beaming onto the unit.

Air-Weigh LoadMaxx DRS (dedicated rig scale)
For fleets and owner operators with dedicated rigs can enjoy the benefits mentioned above at a lower cost. The LoadMaxx DRS gives you all the features and functions of  a complete Air-Weigh Truck-Trailer system except the automatic trailer swapping. An additional Airline(s) is installed from the trailer to the cab via a dedicated pneumatic coil line. The LoadMaxx DRS can be connected to an optional warning buzzer or light and can be connected to most tracking systems to report vehicle weights back to base. An optional on-board Printer is available.
The LoadMaxx can also interface to the vehicle's J1708, J1939 and CANbus for total integration to the truck's multi-function display and trip computer

Air-Weigh QuickLoad Truck scale
The QuickLoad is designed to provide, at a lower cost the same performance and accuracy as the LoadMaxx range without the trailer swapping, printing and Tracking system options. The Quickload provides Steer, drive and trailer weights as well as Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) and Net payload. The QuickLoad also provides a programmable 2 stage alarm warning via the in-cab display which changes from green to red and by an optional buzzer.

Air-Weigh accessories

Deflective transducer
Used on Rigid trucks without front airbag suspension, the Deflective transducer is mounted on the Steer axle and is used to calculate the steer axle weight.

Warning buzzer
An externally mounted audible device triggered at a preset weight level. Short beeps indicate a warning point while a longer beep indicates you have exceeded.

Warning light
A light mounted outside the vehicle at the loader's view indicates warning and overloaded points.

On-Board printer
Allows you to print weight tickers which show Steer, Drive & connected Trailer weights as well as Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) and Net payload. Available for the LoadMaxx and LoadMaxx DRS

Inclinometer
Allows you to maintain weight accuracy when weighing up-hill (Incline)
